Dealing with a paragliding accident can be challenging: injuries may be severe, locations remote and equipment limited. In this two-day first First Aid course designed specifically for paraglider pilots, guides and instructors, we will build on your knowledge and skills to give you confidence in these stressful situations. The course will be run from The Flight Park, Keswick and is BHPA approved.

In the first First Aid course designed specifically for paraglider pilots, guides and instructors, we will cover:

Jocky Sanderson

  • International guide since 1990, taking groups of paraglider pilots on expeditions around the world
  • Keswick Mountain Rescue Team Member for 18 years
  • North-west Ambulance First Responder for 18 years

Dr Matt Wilkes (MSc MCEM FRCA FAWM FRGS)

  • Doctor in specialising in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Remote Medicine
  • Lead Doctor for a number of high altitude expeditions, Flight Physician for AMREF East African Flying Doctors
  • Master’s Degree in Mountain Medicine, Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine and the Royal Geographical Society
  • Qualified Advanced Life Support Instructor, previous certificates in Advanced Paediatric (APLS) and Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Prehospital Emergency Care (PHECC)
  • Currently undertaking a PhD into the physiology of paraglider pilots
