Billing, India - Vol Biv

Availability : Yes

Soar high along the stunning mountain range, with the gentle flatlands to your south and the spectacular back drop of the Himalayas to your north. This is flying utopia and a wonderful place to discover by air!

This 9-day Vol Biv trip will be lead by Debu Chowdhury, our resident Himalayan expert. The plan is to arrive into Billing in the evening of the 15th October and to have an orientation day on the 17th, and then fly, 100% until the 24th October.

Designed to be a more adventurous, this Vol Biv course will focus on landing out for bivvy adventures and continuing from there the next morning. We will do a couple of days of orientation flights on the front ridge and then start the camping out adventures, varying from 1 night and extending them to upto 3 nights out. Possible options would be 360, Dharamsala, Parashar Lake, Hobbiton, and some sites over the back; decided by Debu, based on pilot skill level and conditions. As this trip will be more intense, we will run it on a max ratio of 1guide : 3 clients, and is priced at £1,350 for the 9 days.

This course is designed to give you an insight into the adventure and thrill of Vol Bivving. To make the most out of this course and the Himalayan landscape, you need to have flown with us in Billing before and be very comfortable with top landings in tricky conditions. For the vol-bivs, you will have to bring and fly with your own gear. Once you book, Debu will guide and recommend you on the best gear options.

We will all live, eat, sleep and breath paragliding for this time, flying XC every day and setting tasks to maximise the conditions of each day, and to push your flying ability within your comfort level.

Flights & Transfers

I appreciate that it is a big flight and people may want to do their own thing prior to, or after the flying trip. Whether it is just getting over jet lag, visiting family, or site seeing, so to start, we would meet in Delhi on the morning of Oct 15th and get a domestic flight to Dharamsala at noon and then drive to Bir.

You will need Visa's to travel in India, the best site to go to for all the required information is VFS Global. It can take a while and they are very good but posting your passport away may take a week or so, unless you go for the fast track option, so make sure you research it and get everything correct prior to booking your visa appointment.

You could meet us at Delhi airport at that time, then we can share the next internal flight from Delhi to Dharamsala. It is entirely possible and fine, for you to arrange your own travel to Bir, either by bus, train or plane.
