£725.00

Blue World Paragliding is a company headed by Jocky Sanderson which specialises in advanced paragliding training.  On our SIV courses Jocky only works with Josh Sanderson and Berkay Nal, who are your instructors on these  courses.  Both are  extremely talented XC & Acro pilots and guides. They are the most compassionate instructors who will take you through a carefully designed SIV flight schedule which will  build your confidence and skill level at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Oludeniz is the world renowned SIV location, where Jocky filmed the Security in Flight films. With very reliable weather and up to 1500m altitude in the flight zone, you can maximise your learning with multiple repetitions for every manoeuvre.

This SIV course has a maximum of 6 pilots to ensure you get the highest and most personal level of instruction to enhance your learning and flying experience. The courses constantly evolve with glider designs and the progress in our sport.

You are taught all aspects of controlling your wing during the SIV, from deflations and fine manoeuvrability  to stall recovery and wingovers. Then, when you fly XC, you have the added confidence and skill in glider control, which allows you to focus on positive things like finding lift and coring, which frees your mind and helps you fly further.

We offer 3 formats of training to suit pilots of all levels. These formats can run in parallel during a course, so for example, one pilot could be doing pilotage manoeuvres while the other is perfecting their SAT technique.

Courses run every April & Sept
Fees : £725

Pilotage

Pilotage is a mild form of an SIV course, where the pilot focuses more on glider control, manoeuvrability and sensitivity. This builds up your skillset and confidence in turning tightly, understanding the limits and using the pitch to core in thermals etc.

SIV

SIV is designed to give pilots more confidence in their ability and know the limits of your glider. It teaches you recovery techniques for situations you may encounter during a cross-country flight, enabling you to turn a negative into a positive and fly further

Intro to Acro

We teach the main foundation acro moves and acro philosophy, including SATS,
2-stage stall and back fly, spins, wingovers and helli-intros

Instruction & Briefings

We want you to fly with as little stress as possible, in an exciting and progressive way.

Prior to each flight you will be given detailed briefings & filmed demonstrations of your flight plan to help you understand and visualise the move you are about to do.

In-flight 1:1 Instruction will be over the radio from Josh or Berkay beneath you in the safety boat. As your flights are 1:1 you can perform any manoeuvre and routine you want. So, together with you, we can add or remove, any moves that would help you increase your confidence and glider control skills.

Briefings and de-briefing are done in small groups of up to 6 pilots using filmed footage of your flight to enhance your learning experience.

At the start of the course you will be provided with an automatic inflatable collar and a water proof bag for your radio, if you are not using a headset.  We suggest you get a water proof bag for your phone.

Filming

Kanan Thakur is also a great pilot and instructor, and during SIV courses she  in charge of filming & logistics. We film all your flights using a full HD camera and a highly trained camera person.

These flights are used for debriefing you and handed over to you at the end of the course for your reference and study, free of charge. You just need to bring your SD card or USB stick.

Course Schedule

Initial introductions, briefing and admin on the first day,  followed by one SIV flight. For the next two days, we usually have 2 flights a day.  Flights 5 & 6 are "coaching phase" flights. This is where the bulk of the main training manoeuvres have been completed and it is time to develop the pilots on a more individual basis, you  tell us what you want to focus on. You can develop the newly learnt skills or try new moves that benefit your safety during XC flights. This is all explained and at the briefings.

The course finishes in 3.5 days, and we keep 1.5 days in hand as bad weather backup. If we finish on schedule then we can us this day to relax and free fly to Butterfly valley or beyond.

Please be aware of your own physical and mental limits throughout the tour and on each flight. We aim to do a lot of flying and this can be tiring, especially in heat that you may not be used to, so please be realistic and fly within your comfort and skill levels, cut the flight plan early if you feel tired, or if you feel you have had too much of the manoeuvres. We can always change your flight plan to suit what you feel happy dealing with.
